Ayan Paul was born in Uttarpara, a suburb of Kolkata in West Bengal, India. He took to painting as a child, and by the time he had completed his Masters in Applied Statistics and Informatics from IIT Bombay, his hobby had matured into a dedicated passion. He worked for a few years in Mumbai, and later shifted to Netherlands in late 2019. After working for almost three years in the Netherlands, he left his job to become a full time artist.

I started to paint when I was around ten years old and painted for few years. After that there was a gap of about eight years in between before I resumed again. At that time, I started with realistic portraits done with color pencils and gradually shifted to watercolor.

I fell in love with impressionism and post impressionism soon afterwards, and wanted to explore this style in my work. In late 2021, I started exploring oil painting and I am in the process of achieving my own style by following the footsteps of the masters.

I also started exploring digital paintings and at this moment I am creating them in a very unique style.
